COST // $500.00 per camper. Seven days and six nights of adventure in the great outdoors; priceless!

LOCATION // Camp Panhandle in Shelton. Approximate travel time is 60 mins from Tacoma and 40 mins from Olympia.

LODGING // Campers stay in rustic, open-air cabins.

ACTIVITIES // Unplug, connect, and explore! Those are the words we live by in our daily activities. Sessions ranging from archery and drama to high ropes course and gaga ball (so fun!) keep our mornings busy. There is plenty of camper led time exploring the beach, the forest and more. We spend our afternoons down at the waterfront swimming, canoeing, and playing group games. Evening activities wrap up our day: counselor hunt, cookouts, and the camp dance for 6th grade and older.

MEALS // Camp Orca serves hearty, well rounded meals for our very active campers. Our kitchen staff can easily accommodate those who prefer a vegetarian diet.

STAFF // Our program is run primarily by community volunteers: college students, parents, and professionals. This includes counselors, kitchen staff, activity specialists, lifeguards, and medical staff. Our camper to counselor ration is 4:1. All volunteers are fully trained to Camp Fire standards and are subject to state background checks.

S.i.T. PROGRAM // Staff in Training (S.i.T.) is a two year program designed for youth in grades 10-12 who have a desire to work with younger children and to be peer leaders for summer camp. They participate in leadership and skill development workshops each day, help lead all-camp activities, songs and games, and assist staff members in the supervision of younger campers. Participants gain a new level of personal responsibility, self confidence, and skills for working with children. We expect interested youth to have a high level of maturity and the ability to live and work closely with peers. Upon completion of the two year program (two back to back summers enrolled as a S.i.T.), participants are invited to volunteer as Counselor Assistants the following summer.

A S.i.T. is still a camper. At no time do they take full responsibility of another camper, they are still offered regular programming activities: swimming, canoes, archery, outdoor cooking etc., and participants are checked in and out of camp during the regular camper schedule. Year 1 S.i.T.:  50% workshop & development, 25% regular camp programming, 25% shadowing staff. Year 2 S.i.T.: 70% shadowing other staff, 20% workshop & development, 10% regular programming

COST S.i.T. PROGRAM // $250.00 per camper. Check in and check out on the normal camper schedule.

VOLUNTEERS // There is a need for many different skill sets at camp! Adults can volunteer at any of our camps as counselors and activity specialists. Full-time adult volunteers get a $100 discount on Camp Orca registration for their own children. Campers of full-week adult volunteers will automatically gain entrance into the camp of their choice and will be immediately taken off the wait list. All volunteers are required to attend twelve hours of pre-camp training and are subject to state background checks.
